Show Opening at the Gallery at Trilith

Friday night was so much fun and a BIG thank you to all of those who made it out to the opening.

A huge thanks to my friend, Kris, who made it happen, and to Joe Castillo, the gallery manager.

I had only met Joe through email so it was great meeting him and his lovely wife in person.

I felt like I was in a room of people who got me on Friday night. The gallery manager, Joe, is a talented artist and we had a long talk about what it's like promoting your own work and how, as artists, it's our biggest struggle.

It's hard enough putting yourself "out there" for any reason, but with art, you're putting a piece of yourself out there for everyone to critique. It's pretty tough sometimes.

But, Friday night was great. My friend (and neighbor), Julia, drove down to the gallery with me (it's about 45 minutes from Atlanta).

I had a great group of friends turn up, and I met a lot of new people.

Everyone was so nice and it was fun answering questions about the different pieces I had in the show. Afterward, Julia and I headed back up to the city and met our friend, Joe, (a different Joe!) for dinner.

I didn't get to bed until after midnight so I only got a few hours of sleep Friday night, but it was so worth it.

I have an insane inner alarm clock that gets me up every morning around 6. I try to force myself to stay in bed on the weekend when I need sleep but it's usually a lost cause.

So...up early Saturday and went for a long walk and then worked a good bit of the day. I was tired but happy!

If you happen to be on the south side of Atlanta near Fayetteville and you've got a little time, please check it out. The current show with myself and a couple of other photographers will be up until the end of July.

And check out the Trilith community. It's a fun place with lots of great shops and restaurants. You can have a fun afternoon window shopping, going to the gallery, and grabbing a bite to eat.

It is a little confusing finding your way around. If you're standing in front of the restaurant Amici, the Gallery is down the little alley to the left which is not where Julia and I were wandering around looking for it!

Rather than the address I used to get there, I'd use Amici's address - 355 Trilith Parkway, suite #110. Thanks again to everyone who came out to support us on Friday!

See you between the raindrops - of which we've had plenty the last few days!

xoxo,
Susan
