Not Without My Camera!

An old door on the side of a house

An Atlanta Photographer in West Virginia

I went to visit one of my cousins over this past weekend. I left on Halloween evening that turned into a long night due to a hold at the gate for weather.

I fly into DC when I visit her, and they were experiencing quite a storm.

We boarded the plane and then sat for two hours before pushing back from the gate - for a 1-hour 10-minute flight! I landed around 11:40 and we got in at almost 1 a.m.

That's okay.

I'd rather sit at the gate then get caught up in a microburst on landing. That never ends well.

I brought my camera, of course, which isn't always easy. I get tired of lugging my camera, laptop, and carry-on through the airport. But it's worth it.

I didn't take a lot of photos because I was too busy visiting with my cousin and her family. But I managed to get a few here and there.

I especially liked the photos I got while dropping the kids at their school. The school is an old converted barn and farmhouse with lots of acreage. The kids get outside every day rain or shine.

It wasn't the ideal time for shooting - full daylight sun. But I lucked out with beautiful blue skies and some puffy clouds.

The door was shot at ISO 100, 55mm, 1/250 sec, f/7.1.

I underexposed shots with the sky so I didn't have to worry about burned-out highlights.

The leapfrogging boys were shot at ISO 100, 32mm, 1/100 sec, f/9.0.

The indoor shot through the window was ISO 100, 65mm, 1/125 sec, f/5.6.

We left for the airport yesterday just before 5 a.m., and I was back to the ATL by 9. Now it's time for serious catching up.

Can you believe how quickly the holidays are approaching? Hard to believe Thanksgiving is this month!

I've got a lot to get done over the next few weeks. I don't know about you but I'm already trying to get myself ready for Christmas. I hate doing things last minute but that's usually what ends up happening.

I'm working on getting a little more organized...I know, I know...stop laughing!

I'm writing right now and my eyes keep straying to the window where it's a gorgeous day out! It must be time to walk the dog, or get organized or something...

Have a great rest of your week!

And see you between the raindrops!

xoxo,
Susan
