Don't Forget Dear Old Dad!

Inside an old building in an abandoned train-repair yard

I didn't post last week.

Since I only post once a week, I hate missing. But, sometimes it happens. I don't always have anything to say (I know, amazing, right?). I like to write posts about photo adventures, but some weeks I can't get out to get new photos.

It's crazy how fast a week rolls around, am I right?

The last couple of weeks have been unpredictable, and I haven't been out to shoot.

Well...that's not quite right. I spent four hours shooting a corporate event on Saturday night. It was fun, but also a lot of work. Those aren't the types of photos I showcase on my blog or in my online store. So, I don't count it as being out shooting, even though it is.

I need to get out this week and shoot some new cityscapes or find something fun to shoot.

I'm still obsessed with getting the Milky Way, but that's going to take planning. And it can only be done a few days during the month.

When I can't get out, I like to go through old photos. I have so many photos. Storage is a huge issue for me. It's easy to find images I haven't worked on yet.

The day I took these photos was a fun day. I spent a couple of hours wandering around the place by myself.

An old abandoned train car.

I kept looking over my shoulder to see if I was going to get caught by the security guard. It was dark inside, and I was working with a tripod. I kept picking up the whole tripod, camera and all, while I listened for footsteps and made my way around the building complex. It was awkward. But I was enjoying the heck out of it.

I was also a little nervous about running into any unsavory characters in there.

I ran into a couple of other photographers. We quietly acknowledged each other and walked on.

I'm sure I've mentioned it in other blog posts, but I love getting photos in old abandoned places like this. Technically, this place isn't abandoned. But it's certainly fallen into disrepair.

I walk around and imagine what it was like in its heyday with people everywhere, going about their business.

It's fun to imagine. My mind wanders as I look for good photo tableaus.

Hey - speaking of minds wandering - Father's Day is coming up on Sunday. If you're blessed to have your dad around, don't forget him! Maybe buy him a print!

Hopefully, I'll have another photo adventure to tell you about next week!

And, see you between the raindrops!

xoxo,
Susan
