Starting the New Year with a Whimper

January 2023 - Started the New Year last year in Cartagena, Colombia, also with a case of Covid

Whew - It's been a few weeks, but I hope to return to my routine by the end of the week. If you're a regular reader, you know I'm pretty good about posting every Wednesday and sending out a newsletter. But, my Mom fell off a treadmill a few days before Thanksgiving, which was scary, so I spent a couple of days helping out my parents. Thankfully, Mom's doing much better.

Then, I had Covid in the middle of December which knocked me out for almost two weeks. I finally felt better, at least enough to participate in the family holiday festivities, though I was still having a lot of fatigue. There were several Christmas dinners this year because not all my kids could be in one place for our traditional Christmas Eve dinner.

I did Christmas Eve in one place, Christmas Day in another, and then hosted a get-together the Saturday after Christmas.

Whew. I took my granddaughter down to see my sister and her family and my parents on January 2nd and thought, "Yes! I've kicked the Covid. You know what they say about speaking too soon?

I went to a friend's surprise dinner party this past Friday at a local restaurant. I was at it again Saturday morning for brunch with a group of friends.

I got back home Saturday afternoon, and I pretty quickly felt off. I thought maybe I was just overly tired from everything and canceled Saturday evening plans with a friend. By the time I went to bed Saturday night, my throat was sore.

I couldn't believe it and kept telling myself it was just fatigue. Sunday morning erased any doubt about that as I woke to a full-blown sore throat and stuffy nose. I've tested a couple of times again and at least I don't have a relapse of Covid. But...

Are you kidding me? Yeesh. I'm tired of this stuffy-nose, achy-head thing.

All that to say, I've been struggling to get things done and that's why you haven't seen a blog post, newsletter, or any new artwork from me in a while.

As I type this, my nose is still stuffy but at least my throat isn't on fire! And, I'm very grateful that I usually spend most years healthy. So...

I don't want to speak too soon again, but I need to get back into the swing of things so I can pay my bills!

Best wishes for a HEALTHY, happy New Year!

And, see you between the raindrops - of which there were tons yesterday!

xoxo,
Susan
