A Super Busy Week

A Photographer's Busy Week

It's good to be busy, even though I hate that word - busy. It seems like everyone is so busy all the time.

But, last week was really busy for me - in a good way.

I got an email on Monday asking me if I could do a job for a client. It was a photo shoot for an advertiser and it was at Krog Street Market.

The client needed the shoot done quickly with everything done and edited and back to them by the following Tuesday. So by the time I accepted the job, I had less than a week to get it done, but I was up to the challenge.

It was a difficult shoot because I wasn't given a ton of instruction and I was told I could add my own creativity.

Sometimes it's hard to know how far you can take it with that type of instruction.

I didn't have a lot of time to get the shoot and all the editing done and I needed specific conditions. The client wanted a lot of people and a feeling of motion in the photos. The advertisement also had to be in the photos.

I headed down to Krog Street Market as soon as I had a moment on Thursday and spent an hour shooting. There weren't a lot of people there on Thursday, though, and I didn't get what I wanted.

Krog Street Market can be kind of funny. Sometimes when you think it'll be really busy - like coming into a three-day weekend, it turns out not to be that busy and the neighborhood seems quiet.

Other times, when you think it'll be quiet, it's downright packed.

I went back down on Friday late afternoon, though, and I managed to get what I hoped were enough photos for what the client was looking for.

I spent most of Saturday editing and was happy to end up with what I felt was a very good answer to the client's brief.

BTW - I didn't put any of those photos in this blog post because I don't know if the client wants them public yet.

I had plans Saturday evening and didn't want to be hasty in sending it all over to the client. I always want to look things over carefully.

I had some other things to get done on Sunday and ended up looking everything over for the final time and sending it all to the client on Monday.

I felt good about the photos.

A Rewarding Email

On Monday, I checked my email and was happy to get this response from the client:

Susan,

I was a little trepidatious opening the files because most photographers don't get what we are trying to achieve.  You are definitely NOT most photographers - these look FANTASTIC!!

Thank you for such great work - this is EXACTLY what we need.

SR

Now that's some nice feedback. It was very rewarding and really made my day.

So...I hope to be doing some more work for this client since I definitely understood what he wanted.

I hope you had a nice Memorial Day weekend and you're having a great week!

See you between the raindrops - and what about this great ATL weather we've been having?? It's been awesome:)

xoxo,
Susan
